Moving an object from one point to another requires physical effort. The displacement of things – and of the body itself – makes gravity tangible: an invisible and inexorable condition of terrestrial experience.
The series reflects on what is carried with us, what becomes part of identity, and what is called home. The romantic image of travelling lightly is set against the weight of dragging matter close to the ground: a load that restricts movement, yet also roots us.
Yo ya no soy yo, ni mi casa es ya mi casa emerged from the experience of migration and from the image of a house carried on one’s back. The sculptures move between interior and exterior, container and content, body and matter—and between the constructions through which “I” and “home” take form.
