Il trasloco: Italian, from the Latin trans, “across” or “beyond,” and locus, “place.” To change place; to move.

This body of work explores the tension between the gravitational weight of matter and a body attempting to move it. Through dragging, a simple action becomes difficult, exaggerated, and absurd.

The work stages a direct confrontation between the body and gravity. Furniture, personal belongings, and construction materials are joined together into heavy sculptural forms. As the objects merge, they lose their original functions and become inseparable bodies. These physical connections also suggest emotional attachments: what is carried, what creates a sense of belonging, and what cannot easily be left behind.

The work moves between two contrasting figures: the wanderer who travels lightly, carrying only what is necessary, and Sisyphus, condemned to carry an immense weight. At a time shaped by constant movement and instability, Il Trasloco asks what remains of home when everything must be transported and reconstructed elsewhere
